Weekday worker, weekend wanderer. That's who I am.
I'm just like any other Juan, working my butt off from Monday to Friday of every week to fend for my family's and my personal needs. Working in the corporate world, the IT industry specifically, I have to deal with and overcome a lot of work pressure. But I'm enjoying it (no sarcasm included) for I know that for every stress endured, a penny is earned - something I could use to reward myself at the end of every workweek.
Wanderlust caught me in 2011, when some colleagues at work organized a quick weekend getaway to Puerto Galera. It is officially my first leisure and adventure trip. After that, my feet never ceased to itch (figuratively, of course). I've been traveling a lot, particularly the Philippines, since then.
Quite frankly, the thought of writing a travelogue to document my travel adventures (and misadventures) struck me many times, but I never took the idea seriously and even found it ridiculously funny. I'll make a fool of myself if I get myself to write, this was my belief then. After all, I'm a person who lacks creative juices and knows not well enough about how to play with words. Creative writing is not my thing. Ask me to write a scientific paper instead and I'm quite confident I'll ace it! Travel blogging was an uncharted territory for a technical person like me. It was something I believe I should not venture into if I want to excel (do what you do best, remember?). So, I feared the idea and wanted to junk it. Yet, looking back, traveling too was an uncharted territory prior to my trip to Puerto Galera but is now something I'm addicted to doing. As they say, there is always a first time for everything. Travel blogging is no exception. Besides, a true wanderer is not afraid of exploring uncharted territories. How else do I live up to being one if I'm afraid to try something for the first time, right? So, geared only with self-help resources on website development and creative writing, I took a leap of faith, and this website is born.
